This despite the film being set some years prior to the tv series era.<br /><br />The creation of a pre-history for 'dear friends' (I'm from a Trekkie household so James T, Spock, Bones, Scottie, Sulu and Ohura feel almost like family) was surprisingly delightful, hilarious at times, and poignant. I'd expected to become indignant at this new portrayal.
